  Great drinks, service, and atmosphere. Best part of this restaurant is the amazing live music. Food was quite good - but probably the only reason i didn't give 5 stars. Reasonably priced.

  Food was excellent. Live music was a bit too intense and loud. Has live music every night. Request to be seated away from the band next time. Excellent service. Cocktails were a B- Did not try the wine. Lovely historic spot to dine in old Montreal. Gluten free option was excellent as was the catch of the day.

  I found this place by searching around the Old Montreal area. Great atmosphere with live music every night. Perfect for any occasion and would be great for a date. The mussels were amazing! Beet salad was even better!!!

  Wonderful bi-level restaurant and jazz club with free live music every night. Acoustics are perfectly balanced to permit easy dinner conversation while the blues-influenced jazz is performed. Prices are quite moderate especially if you stick with the table d'hôte menu. They're known for their lamb dishes and mine last night was spectacular, a roast rack of lamb with a disk of perfect goat cheese melting over roast veggies and potatoes. Service is genuinely warm and friendly. Recommended.

  It was hard to choose which restaurant to visit in Old Montreal, considering that it is full of high-rated restaurants of all types. I'm really glad I chose Modavie. My boyfriend and I were visiting Montreal for the weekend to celebrate his birthday, and this was our favourite dinner meal.
  
  Food:I had the seafood linguine, which was very flavourful yet light. My boyfriend had the rack of lamb with potatoes and goat cheese...let's just say I did a lot of eating off of his plate. Definitely fresh, good quality food. They specialize in lamb, so if you are a lamb lover, this is the place for you.
  
  Service: Our server Francois was just lovely. He was very passionate and genuine, and he gave us a lot of information about the history of the restaurant and of the wine we were ordering. He was very friendly, attentive, and worked so smoothly with the waitress that was assisting him.
  
  Ambiance: The restaurant had a very nice rustic interior with stone walls, mood lighting, and very soulful/jazzy live music that we thoroughly enjoyed. The only problem was that we were seated in a room that wasn't in view of the live music, so the music got a bit drowned out by the loud party at the table beside us.
  
  We plan to visit Montreal again in the summer, and we will definitely be visiting Modavie again, especially if we can be seated in Francois's area!
